Pipe Layer Heavy Civil Construction
We are seeking an experienced and dependable Pipe Layer to join our heavy civil construction team. The Pipe Layer will be responsible for the installation of underground utility systems, including storm drains, sanitary sewers, water mains, and related infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have experience working on heavy civil projects, reading construction plans, and safely installing pipe to project specifications.
Responsibilities

• Install underground utility piping including storm sewer, sanitary sewer, water, and drainage systems.
• Read and interpret construction drawings, blueprints, grade stakes, and utility plans.
• Prepare trenches for pipe installation, including bedding and backfill operations.
• Align and position pipe sections using lasers, levels, and other surveying equipment.
• Ensure proper pipe grade, slope, and alignment according to project specifications.
• Assist with trench shoring, excavation safety, and site preparation activities.
• Connect and seal pipe joints using appropriate materials and methods.
• Operate hand tools, power tools, and small construction equipment as needed.
• Work closely with equipment operators, laborers, foremen, and project managers to complete projects efficiently.
• Inspect installed systems for quality, accuracy, and compliance with project requirements.
• Follow all company safety policies, OSHA regulations, and job site safety procedures.
• Perform general labor duties as required to support project operations.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of pipe laying experience in heavy civil, utility, roadway, or site development construction.
• Knowledge of underground utility installation practices and construction methods.
• Ability to read and interpret construction plans and grade stakes.
• Understanding of trench safety regulations and excavation procedures.
• Experience installing water mains, sanitary sewer, storm sewer, and drainage systems preferred.
• Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
• Strong work ethic, reliability, and attention to detail.
• Valid driver's license preferred.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift and carry up to 75 pounds.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and work in trenches for extended periods.
• Comfortable working around heavy equipment and active construction sites.
• Ability to perform physically demanding work in varying weather conditions.
