Title: PICU Registered Nurse

Location:
Charlotte North Carolina 28203

Duration: 26 Weeks

Shift: 12hr Night Shift - 36

Shift Information: 1900-0700

Clinical Interviewing- No

On Call, Call Back Requirements: No Call

Weekend Rotation: will be required to work 2 Fridays, 2 Saturdays, 2 Sundays and 2 Mondays every 6-week schedule

Holiday Requirements: Travelers will work 75% of holidays, Unit requirement is the eve and day of every other holiday while contracted

Floating Requirements: as needed within facility to other units

  • Radius rule: Traveler s permanent address must be 50 miles outside of home unit
Unit Information:
  • Beds: 24; 21-23 patient census on average
Required Experience: 2 years of strong high acuity Pediatric ICU experience must be comfortable in a high acuity, fast paced environment

Patient Types/Common Diagnoses:
  • Respiratory, Trauma (which includes penetrating and non-accidental trauma, NAT), DKA, Seizures, Neurosurgical, Acute/Chronic Renal Failure, Orthopedic, Surgical, Transplants (Kidney and whole/partial Liver), complex Medical, Blood Disorders
Patient Ratios: RN: Varies on acuity: 2:1, 1:1, 1:2

Required Licensure & Certifications: RN: BLS, PALS

  • CNA - 1 Health Care tech per day to support unit secretary duties and nursing support needs throughout the shift (runners, bathing, etc.)

  • IV Pump: Alaris and Medfusion syringe pumps
  • Med dispensing: Omnicell
  • Monitors: Phillips
  • Equipment: Belmont Rapid Infuser, Accuvein, PIV Ultrasound, Artic Sun, Camino, EV-1000 Vigileo, I-stat and Accuryn
Floating: If yes, where:
  • Pediatric CVICU, NICU, Neonatal PCU, Gen Peds will float as needed
Orientation (facility and unit):
  • NEO
  • 2 days departmental
Scheduling:
  • Weekend rotation: will be required to work 2 Fridays, 2 Saturdays, 2 Sundays and 2 Mondays every 6-week schedule
    • The combination of the 2 Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays, and Mondays can be grouped together or worked separately as long as those eight (8) shifts occur within the 6-week period
  • No call for travelers, if the PICU cannot utilize them, they may be floated to PCVICU, Peds Progressive, NICU or general Peds units within LCH
  • Holiday Expectations: Travelers will work 75% of holidays, Unit requirement is the eve and day of every other holiday while contracted
  • RTO: Manager approval
  • Shift times: 0645 1915, 1845 - 0715
  • Schedule cycle: every 6 weeks
