    Physician Assistant/APRN – Sleep Medicine

    We are seeking a motivated, compassionate, and highly organized Physician Assistant (PA-C)/APRN to join our growing sleep medicine practice. The Physician Assistant will work collaboratively with our physicians and clinical team to evaluate, diagnose, treat, and manage patients with a variety of sleep disorders.

    This is an excellent opportunity for a PA interested in developing expertise in sleep medicine while working in a supportive, patient-focused outpatient environment. Sleep medicine experience is preferred but not required; training can be provided to the right candidate.

    Responsibilities

    • Evaluate new and established patients with sleep-related symptoms and disorders.
    • Obtain comprehensive medical and sleep histories and perform appropriate physical examinations.
    • Assess patients for conditions including obstructive sleep apnea, insomnia, hypersomnia, restless legs syndrome, and other sleep disorders.
    • Develop diagnostic and treatment plans in collaboration with supervising/collaborating physicians as appropriate.
    • Order appropriate diagnostic testing, including home sleep apnea testing and in-lab polysomnography, when medically indicated and within scope of practice.
    • Review sleep study results and communicate findings and treatment recommendations to patients.
    • Initiate and manage CPAP, APAP, BiPAP, and other PAP therapies as appropriate.
    • Conduct PAP compliance and follow-up visits and address issues affecting treatment adherence.
    • Provide counseling regarding sleep hygiene, weight management, PAP compliance, and lifestyle modifications.
    • Prescribe medications when clinically appropriate and within the PA's scope of practice.
    • Coordinate care with primary care physicians, specialists, durable medical equipment providers, and other healthcare professionals.
    • Complete accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record.
    • Document medical necessity thoroughly to support insurance authorization for sleep studies and treatment.
    • Respond to patient questions, test results, medication requests, and clinical concerns in a timely manner.
    • Participate in quality-improvement initiatives and practice growth.
    • Maintain compliance with applicable federal and state regulations and practice policies.

    Qualifications

    • Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant/APRN program.
    • Current NCCPA certification (PA-C)/APRN.
    • Current Connecticut Physician Assistant/APRN license or eligibility to obtain licensure.
    • Current BLS certification.
    • Previous experience in sleep medicine, pulmonary medicine, internal medicine, neurology, primary care, or a related specialty preferred.
    • New graduates with a strong interest in sleep medicine are encouraged to apply.
    • Strong clinical judgment, communication, and patient-education skills.
    • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with physicians and other members of the healthcare team.
    • Strong organizational skills and attention to documentation.
    • Experience with EMR/EHR systems preferred.
