Mercy Aurora and Cassville, Missouri - Rural Emergency Medicine

Mercy Hospital is recruiting an emergency medicine physician (Family Medicine trained are welcome) for two critical-access hospitals located outside of Springfield in Aurora and Cassville, Missouri. We are a hospital-employed group with no partnership track/buy-in and equal parity, scheduling, and vote from day one! Aurora and Cassville are beautiful, rural communities surrounded by the Mark Twain National Forest and Ozark Mountains.

Mercy Hospital Aurora and Cassville:

  • 25-bed, critical access hospital
  • Annual ED volume of 11,000-13,000 patients
  • Easy transfers (ground and air) to Mercy Hospital - Springfield, an 886-bed level I trauma center and tertiary catchment hospital for a four-state area
  • Hospitalists available 24-hours per day for admissions
  • No hospitalist work or inpatient rounding required
  • MRI and CT available
  • Basic emergency procedures are available including Glidescope and Ultrasound
  • No trauma designation
  • Less than 2 patients per hour
  • EPIC EMR across Mercy
  • Rated in the top 5% nationally for overall clinical excellence by Healthgrades
  • Named in the top 100 critical-access hospitals in the US

Mercy Emergency Medicine Offers:

  • Schedule completed three months in advance for a great work/life balance
  • 12-hour shifts, 12 shifts per month - flexible and block scheduling available
  • $50,000 signing bonus plus paid relocation
  • Guaranteed hours/shifts and $205-$226/hour

Mercy

Our Mercy health system was founded by the Sisters of Mercy in 1986. But our heritage goes back more than 185 years. It began with an Irish woman named Catherine McAuley, who wanted to help the poor women and children of Dublin. Though Catherine had a modest upbringing, she received an unexpected inheritance that allowed her to fulfill her dreams. In 1827, she opened the first House of Mercy in Dublin, intending to teach skills to poor women and educate children. Many volunteers came to help. A few years later, Catherine founded the Sisters of Mercy, the first religious order not bound to the rules of the cloister, whose Sisters were free to walk among the poor and visit them in their homes. By the time Catherine died in 1841, there were convents in Ireland and England, and in 1843, the Sisters of Mercy came to the United States. In 1871, they traveled to St. Louis and from there throughout the Midwest, beginning what would, today be known as Mercy.
