Job Summary

The Registered Nurse (RN) delivers professional nursing care in the UHS Physician Practice setting, supporting Healthcare Providers and office staff in the coordination and delivery of safe, efficient, and compassionate patient care. Responsibilities include triaging and care disposition of patients, clinical care, assisting providers as needed, facilitating care transitions, and ensuring adherence to regulatory and quality standards. This role promotes a healing and supportive environment, fostering patient-centered care and continuous professional development.

Job Responsibilities

  • Triages and assesses patients, in person and/or via telephone.
  • Conducts patient intake including history, vital signs, and health screenings.
  • Administers medications and immunizations as ordered.
  • Assists providers with examinations, minor procedures, diagnostic testing, and treatments.
  • Performs wound care, dressing changes, and specimen collection.
  • Educates patients on treatment plans, preventative care, and follow-up instructions.
  • Supports chronic disease management and preventative screenings.
  • Communicates test results and care instructions to patients.
  • Collaborates with the health care team to coordinate comprehensive patient care.
  • Documents all patient interactions in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
  • Ensures compliance with HIPAA, OSHA, NYSDOH, infection control standards, and all regulatory standards.
  • Coordinates clinical training and evaluation of clinical staff.
  • Mentors and supports Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) and Medical Office Assistants (MOAs).
  • Participates in Quality Improvement initiatives and professional development activities.
  • Attends clinical meetings and relays pertinent information to team members.
  • Facilitates effective shared decision-making and fosters an inclusive environment.

Skills & Experience

  • Required: At least one year experience in an acute care or ambulatory care setting.
  • Preferred: Previous experience in outpatient setting.
