    Job Summary:

    Geisinger's Heart Institute is seeking a Cardiovascular Thoracic Surgery Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner to join our growing practice at Geisinger Community Medical Center located in Scranton, Pennsylvania.

    Job Duties:

    Join our collaborative cardiothoracic surgery team and play a key role in guiding patients through every stage of their surgical journey, from initial evaluation to postoperative recovery.

    In this role, you will:

    • Evaluate and prepare patients for cardiothoracic surgery in partnership with cardiac surgeons.
    • Coordinate preoperative testing, surgical scheduling, medical clearances, and patient education.
    • Manage outpatient referrals and participate in Heart Team discussions for valve and structural heart patients.
    • Round on postoperative cardiac surgery patients and assist with ongoing inpatient management.
    • Coordinate discharges, follow-up care, and recovery planning.
    • Conduct postoperative visits and manage patient questions, phone calls, and portal messages.
