Description

We offer patients convenient access to innovative treatments and advancements that improve the health and overall well-being of our community. Responsibilities:
  • Obtain comprehensive and focused patient histories and perform appropriate physical examinations.
  • Evaluate new and established oncology and hematology patients in collaboration with the supervising physician.
  • Develop and implement evidence-based plans of care in collaborating with the attending oncologist.
  • Provide routine follow up care for patients receiving active cancer treatment.
  • Provide surveillance and survivorship visits for appropriate patient populations.
  • Order and interpret laboratory studies, diagnostic imaging, and other diagnostic testing within approved scope and privileges.
  • Review pathology, imaging, molecular/genomic testing, and other clinical findings relevant to the patient's cancer diagnosis and treatment.
  • Communicate signficant findings to the attending physician and multidisciplinary care team.
  • Coordinates consultations and referrals to appropriate specialists and supportive services.
  • Completes all mandatory department, educational and hospital requirements
  • Adheres to current Infection Control and Safety Standards
  • Regular and prompt attendance
  • Ability to work schedule as defined and overtime as required
  • Related duties as assigned
  • Additional Information: Employees must be in a regular position, working 20 hours or more per week (.50 FTE or greater) to qualify for benefits. Qualifications:
  • Completion of an accredited physician assistant training program Required
  • PA - Physician Assistant - Licensure with the state of Alabama to practice as a Physician Assistant within 60 Days Required
  • Comparable combination of education and experience may substitute for the above requirements.
