About Shriners Children's Ohio

7 bed (expanding) unit with a mix of both critical and non-critical patients
Unit is staffed with burn/critical care surgeons and plastic/reconstructive surgeons in collaboration with pediatric intensivists. 4 APRNs and rotating surgical residents also serve the unit.
Patient Population: Acute burns, burn reconstructions, and post-operative care of craniofacial patients.

Responsibilities:
The Acute Care Physician Assistant (ACPA) provides care that requires knowledge and skills obtained from advanced formal education and clinical experience.
The ACPA, in collaboration with the physicians and interdisciplinary team, may provide preventive, acute, specialized and primary care services to patients consistent with the nurse’s education and certification.
Services provided by the ACPA may include, but are not limited to the following: 1) assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and management of identified health needs; 2) ordering and interpretation of diagnostic and/or laboratory tests; 3) formulating, documenting, and monitoring treatment plans; 4) routine wound or post-operative dressing management; 5) ordering interdisciplinary consults; and 6) ordering pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic therapies and/or interventions.
In addition to standard ACPA responsibilities, duties also include the day to day management and development of the physician assistant program at SCH-C.

Qualifications:
Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies
NCCPA Board Certification
Active OH PA license
BLS certification. PALS certification required within 3 months of hire
DEA certification
Advanced practice experience in pediatrics or pediatrics ICU preferred
