Physician Assistant – Oncology Clinical Trials (Phase I / First-in-Human)
Outpatient Cancer Center | Bronx, NY | 4 days/week (10-hour shifts) | Low daily patient volume | Union role + strong benefits

If you’re a PA with 1+ year of oncology experience and you’re craving a role where you can be detail-driven, clinically sharp, and truly present with patients, this one stands out.

Our client a leading healthcare institution dedicated to advancing cancer treatment and research is hiring a Physician Assistant to join their distinguished team at the outpatient cancer center in New York. They are adding a PA to a Phase I / first-in-human clinical trials program. You’ll care for oncology patients enrolled in early-phase trials in a low daily volume, high-touch outpatient environment, working closely with physicians and a well-structured research team. Research experience is welcome—but not required (training is provided).

Why PAs like this role

  • Low daily patient volume = time to practice thoughtfully (not conveyor-belt medicine)
  • Phase I / first-in-human trials = cutting-edge therapies + serious professional growth
  • 4-day workweek (4x10s) = consistent schedule and real work-life structure
  • Union position + comprehensive benefits
  • Strong support from a multidisciplinary team (clinical + research)

What you’ll do

  • Manage and provide care for oncology patients enrolled in early-phase clinical trials
  • Partner with primary/secondary attending physicians on evaluation, treatment planning, and follow-up
  • Participate in trial visits, including:
    • Detailed documentation
    • Adverse event grading
    • Ongoing clinical assessment and care coordination
  • Coordinate with research staff (coordinators/regulatory) to support:
    • Protocol adherence
    • Data quality and integrity
    • Smooth execution from screening through treatment

What we’re looking for

  • Active NYS PA license/registration
  • 1+ year oncology experience (comfortable managing complex cases)
  • Strong documentation skills and comfort with complex protocols
  • Collaborative, organized, team-first approach
  • Spanish-speaking a plus
  • Research experience is a plus, but not required (you’ll be trained)
