Description:

The Region One Public Schools seek highly qualified candidates for a part-time Physical Therapist position. Start date: As soon as possible.

The Physical Therapist will provide school-based physical therapy services to students in one or more schools within the region. The Physical Therapist will evaluate students, provide direct and consultative services, and collaborate with educational teams to support students' access to and participation in their educational programs. The assignment may include multiple school buildings and require travel between schools.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide school-based physical therapy services to students in accordance with their Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and Section 504 plans
  • Conduct physical therapy evaluations and assessments to determine students' functional needs within the educational environment, if necessary
  • Develop appropriate recommendations, goals, and interventions based on evaluation results and student needs
  • Provide direct and consultative physical therapy services as determined by student IEPs and educational teams
  • Participate in Planning and Placement Team (PPT) meetings and contribute to the development and review of student IEPs, as appropriate
  • Collaborate with teachers, special education staff, related service providers, administrators, parents/guardians, and other school personnel
  • Provide consultation and recommendations regarding positioning, mobility, accessibility, adaptive equipment, and participation in school activities
  • Monitor student progress, maintain appropriate documentation, and complete required reports and service records
  • Communicate and collaborate with families and outside providers, as appropriate
  • Maintain compliance with applicable federal and state special education requirements, district policies, and professional standards
  • Participate as an active member of school-based and district teams, as appropriate
  • Perform other related responsibilities as determined by the Director

Requirements:

  • Valid State of Connecticut license to practice as a Physical Therapist
  • Degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited physical therapy program
  • Knowledge of pediatric physical therapy principles and practices
  • Knowledge of special education processes, procedures, and legal requirements, including IDEA and Section 504
  • Ability to evaluate students' functional abilities and determine appropriate school-based interventions and supports
  • Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to maintain accurate and timely documentation
  • Experience providing physical therapy services to children and/or in a school setting preferred

Salary and Benefits:

The anticipated salary range for this position is $16,526$41,524 annually, based on approximately .30.35 FTE. Salary will be determined using the 20262027 Housatonic Valley Regional Faculty Association salary schedule, with placement based on degree and applicable experience and prorated based on the final FTE. This part-time position is not eligible for health insurance benefits.
