Position Summary

The Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) works under the direction and supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care. The PTA implements treatment plans, supports patient progress, and helps patients regain mobility, function, and independence while maintaining compliance with all clinical and regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide physical therapy treatments in accordance with the established plan of care and under the supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist

  • Assist patients with therapeutic exercises, functional mobility, gait training, balance activities, and use of assistive devices

  • Monitor patient response to treatment and report progress, concerns, or changes in condition to the Physical Therapist

  • Educate patients and caregivers on exercises, safety, and functional activities to support recovery and independence

  • Accurately document treatments, progress, and patient responses in a timely manner per facility and regulatory guidelines

  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized treatment environment

  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to ensure coordinated, patient-focused care

  • Comply with all federal, state, and facility regulations, including HIPAA and infection control standards

  • Demonstrate professionalism, compassion, and respect in all patient interactions

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapy Assistant program
  • Current Physical Therapist Assistant license in good standing (state-specific)
  • Experience in skilled nursing, long-term care, or home health preferred (new graduates welcome to apply)
  • Strong clinical, communication, and time-management skills
  • Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment
