Physical Security Operations Coordinator

Under supervision, this position oversees various physical and digital security systems, including but not limited to access control systems, walk thru metal detectors (WTMDs), X-Ray machines, security cameras, security video management software, digital video storage, and coordinates with Event Security and 24/7 Security. Coordinates end user training, site security assessments, and provides critical security training to include training related to active shooters, insider threat issues.

Essential Functions

• Oversees the administration and maintenance of physical security systems, including access control, surveillance cameras, alarms, security video management software, digital video storage, WTMDs, X-Ray machines, safety management software, visitor management software, and enterprise-level security software
• Oversees security system contractors, installers, and vendors to ensure best practices in performance are met
• Collaborates with internal departments and external partners to enhance security best practices and contribute to the ongoing development of the overall security program
• Monitors security systems performance continuously, proactively troubleshoots issues (w/ Vendor, IT, and/or Operations), and optimizes system efficiency to ensure security best practices
• Ensures compliance with industry specific regulations, standards, and policies related to physical security systems
• Coordinates Site Security / Threat Assessments with local, state and federal law enforcement agencies
• Coordinates Red Team Assessments for NBA, NHL, WNBA events
• Works closely with Operations and IT team on replacement, upgrade and installation of security hardware and software
• Continually monitors and assesses conditions that relate to potential threats
• Develops and provides critical security training to include training related to active shooters, insider threat issues, emergency operating procedures and other training related to secure environments
• Ensures appropriate product specifications for security systems related projects
• Stays up to date on the latest and greatest security system technologies
• Assists Event Security & Guest Services team with Event Management when needed
• Assists with 24/7 Security when needed
• Provides end user training on physical security equipment and software for full-time and part-time employees as necessary
• Performs other duties as assigned

Education/Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) required
• Bachelor’s Degree or Associate’s Degree in Security Management, Criminal Justice or equivalent work experience is preferred
• Professional security certifications such as Physical Security Professional (PSP) or equivalent experience is preferred
• Must be a minimum of 21 years of age
• Knowledge of applicable processes, techniques, and methods in the security systems industry
• Knowledge in evaluating sites for optimal camera placement, installing and configuring equipment
• Must have a working knowledge of application and/or operating systems with the ability to install and maintain applications, operating systems, and equipment
• Proficiency using computers and related software applications
• Must be able to multi-task and prioritize tasks in an environment with frequent interruptions and changes in priorities
• Skill in data analysis and problem solving
• Skills in understanding threats and mitigation practices
• Skills in implementing access control, CCTV, WTMDs, X-Ray, intrusion detection, and video data storage
• Skill in providing day-to-day system/application administration and/or system/application administration in support of a variety of work environments
• Skill in identifying complex problems and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and to implement solutions
• Ability to effectively train and coach others using appropriate instructional methods and procedures to teach new concepts. 
• Ability to use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems
• Ability to view the big picture when involved in a project and make decisions
• Ability to quickly become familiar with emerging physical security technologies
• Ability to establish and maintain effective communication and working relationships with internal employees and external partners
• Ability to monitor and respond to security incidents
• Must have the ability to communicate effectively and handle conflict in uncertain situations

Physical Demands/Work Environment:

• Position requires the ability to stand for extended periods of time, walk, use of hands to handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, and sit for extended periods of time
• Requires the ability to comb steps and stairs on all levels of the building.
• Requires the ability to see to identify safety and security situations
• Position requires the ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds, climb a latter and/or being on a lift
• Involves potential exposure to machines with moving parts, sharp objects, and heavy vibrations
• Requires ability to perform all essential functions indoors/outdoors exposed to the elements (heat, cold, humidity, rain, snow, and wind).
• The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, however, during events, the noise level may be loud
• Must be able to work a flexible schedule including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays
