The Arizona Department of Corrections, Rehabilitation & Reentry (ADCRR) is seeking a strong leader to oversee repair and maintenance operations at Central Office facilities. This position will supervise, train, and transport inmate work crews to various job sites while ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with security requirements.

Responsibilities include maintaining building locking and security systems, key-control measures, and supporting special events, office equipment moves, and future janitorial operations. The position will also manage cost estimates, material procurement, resource planning, and emergency or after-hours maintenance responses while ensuring projects remain within budget.

• Perform, oversee and supervise subordinates in minor to difficult tasks in maintenance repair and replacement activities to include electrical, plumbing, carpentry, welding, painting, masonry, heating and cooling
• Perform basic preventative maintenance and arrange for periodic services and repairs
• Maintain budget-related functions to include cost estimating, material procurement and resource planning
• Directs and control the inmates activities to include training on procedures and work processes
• Oversee, maintain and execute the key control policy for the central office by issuing keys, repairs and replacement of locks and maintain the key logs
• Coordinate the work requests with staff, vendors and peers
• Operate vehicles and other motorized equipment which also includes the transport of inmates to/from the various work sites
• Oversees and performs took, equipment and material inventory
  

Knowledge of:

• Principles and techniques of supervising, counseling, employee relations and work scheduling
• Common and specialist tools, equipment and martial related work
• Methods and practices in involved in replacing, installing and repairing locks and security systems
• Reading blueprints, sketches and structural components of buildings related to utility service systems
• Safety practices related to National and local building codes
• Practice preventative maintenance, repair, remodeling and construction estimating
• Costing and ordering materials

Skill in:

• Applying principles and techniques of supervision, counseling, employee relations, and work scheduling to effectively manage teams and support workplace productivity
• In the use of common and specialized tools, equipment and materials
• Replacing, installing and repairing locks and security systems
• Reading blueprints, sketches and schematics
• Demonstrating methods and practices of preventative maintenance, remodeling, construction and repair
• Demonstrating and interpreting safety practices of National and local building codes
• Oral and written communications and interpersonal relationships

• One (1) year of experience or equivalent to a Physical Plant Supervisor II; or two (2) years of experience or equivalent to a Physical Plant Supervisor I
• Prior experience supervising and leading inmate work crews
