Long-Term Substitute K-4 Physical Education Teacher

Position Type: Long-Term Substitute

Grade Levels: Kindergarten through 4th Grade

Reports To: School Principal or Designee

Position Purpose

The Long-Term Substitute Physical Education Teacher is responsible for delivering a comprehensive, developmentally appropriate physical education program for students in grades K-4. The teacher promotes physical fitness, motor skill development, teamwork, and healthy lifestyle habits while maintaining a safe and inclusive learning environment.

Essential Functions

  • Plan and implement engaging physical education lessons aligned with district and state standards
  • Teach fundamental motor skills, movement concepts, and age-appropriate physical activities
  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and safe learning environment for all students
  • Adapt instruction to meet diverse student needs and abilities
  • Maintain classroom management and ensure student safety at all times
  • Assess student progress and provide feedback as appropriate
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers and staff to support student development
  • Follow established school policies, procedures, and schedules
  • Supervise students during transitions and designated duties

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Physical Education, Education, or a related field (preferred)
  • Valid teaching certification or substitute teaching license as required by the state
  • Experience working with elementary-aged children preferred
  • Knowledge of physical education curriculum and child development
  • Strong classroom management and communication skills
  • Motor Vehicle Operator's License or ability to provide own transportation.
  • Must pass required criminal background checks and be free from communicable disease.
