A Phlebotomy Technician who can perform blood draws, including venipuncture and capillary collections. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, compassionate, and able to provide excellent patient care while accurately identifying patients, labeling specimens, following safety and infection-control procedures, and maintaining a professional and courteous manner.

Licenses:
Applicants must attach a valid, legible photocopy of their Certificate issued by the California Department of Public Health, Laboratory Field Services (CA DHS-LFS) Phlebotomy Program to their application at the time of filing or email a legible copy of their certificate to the exam analyst Caroline Khodaverdian at CKhodaverdian@dhs.lacounty.gov within fifteen (15) calendar days from the date of filing their application online. When emailing documents, please include the exam number and exam title. Applications received without the required proof of certificate will be denied as not meeting the stated requirements. We do not accept password-protected documents. Ensure documents are unlocked before attaching to your application or sending to the exam analyst.
All required certifications must be active and unrestricted or your application will not be accepted.
Physical Class 2 - Light: This class includes administrative and clerical positions requiring light physical effort that may include occasional light lifting to a 10-pound limit and some bending, stooping, or squatting. Considerable ambulation may be involved.
Desirable Qualifications:
Additional credit will be awarded for additional experience beyond the requirements.

EXAMINATION CONTENT:
This examination will consist of an evaluation of experience and desirable qualifications based on application information, weighted 100%.
Candidates must achieve a passing score of 70% or higher on this examination to be added to the eligible list.
Eligibility and Vacancy Information:
Applicants who passed the assessment(s) are placed on a list in the order of their score group for a period of twelve (12) months. Applications will be processed as they are received and added to the list accordingly. We will use this list to fill vacancies in the Department of Health Services as they occur.
No individual is allowed to participate in this examination more than once within a twelve (12) month period.
Available shifts:
Appointees may be required to work any shift and at any facility, including evenings, nights, weekends and holidays.
