Overview

Emerge is looking for an experienced Phlebotomy Manager, Inpatient to join a prominent Medical Center in Boston, Massachusetts.

This role leads inpatient phlebotomy operations and supports broader laboratory quality, compliance, staffing, safety and operational performance. The position works closely with pathology and laboratory medicine leadership and carries responsibility for staff management, regulatory compliance, budgeting, equipment, process improvement and patient service.

Schedule: Full-time, 40 hours per week
Work Arrangement: On-site
Travel: Up to 20% within Boston-area locations

Our client is looking for a clinical laboratory professional with strong technical knowledge, leadership skills and experience managing people and laboratory operations. The ideal candidate understands clinical lab regulations, quality standards and patient safety requirements and has experience supporting or leading laboratory teams.

Job Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage inpatient phlebotomy and assigned laboratory operations.
  • Provide oversight and leadership to laboratory staff.
  • Maintain quality, compliance and patient safety standards.
  • Ensure compliance with CAP, Joint Commission, CLIA, OSHA, DPH and other applicable regulations.
  • Provide 24/7 call coverage.
  • Manage staffing levels, overtime and employee performance.
  • Participate in hiring, candidate selection, onboarding and employee development.
  • Manage operating and capital budgets.
  • Monitor laboratory billing, expenses and revenue integrity.
  • Oversee laboratory equipment, maintenance and service agreements.
  • Review quality-control data and implement corrective action when needed.
  • Support process improvement and laboratory efficiency initiatives.
  • Work closely with medical directors, nursing teams, operations leadership and other hospital departments.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science or an applied science such as Chemistry, Biology or Biochemistry.
  • Minimum 3 years of clinical laboratory experience.
  • Strong understanding of College of American Pathologists, CAP, and Joint Commission requirements.
  • ASCP, NCA or equivalent clinical laboratory certification preferred.
  • Clinical laboratory supervisory experience preferred.
  • Strong leadership, organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong scientific and technical understanding of clinical laboratory operations.
  • Ability to work full-time on-site in Boston.
  • Ability to travel among Boston, Brockton and Brighton locations as needed. Pasted markdown
