Job Summary:
The Phlebotomist (Patient Services Representative II) represents the face of the organization for patients visiting for routine testing or important health decisions. This role is responsible for drawing quality blood samples and preparing specimens for laboratory testing while following established practices and procedures.
The position requires direct patient interaction and focuses on building trust and confidence with patients while explaining procedures and performing blood collection safely, accurately, and professionally.
Key Responsibilities:
Draw quality blood samples from patients and prepare specimens for laboratory testing according to established procedures.
Perform both clinical and forensic specimen collection and processing duties.
Verify patient demographic information and obtain patient signatures after venipuncture to confirm specimen labeling accuracy.
Ensure specimen tubes are labeled correctly in the presence of the patient.
Maintain required records and documentation according to laboratory standards.
Perform daily tasks accurately and on time under the direction of the area supervisor.
Maintain a safe, professional, and patient-focused environment.
Demonstrate leadership behaviors while maintaining confidentiality and accuracy of patient information.
Promote a positive image to patients, clients, employees, and the public.
Work Environment:
Successful applicants may be assigned to a doctor’s office, patient service center, or other clinical locations depending on business needs. Training locations may vary depending on trainer availability.
Required Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent required.
1–3 years of phlebotomy experience, including pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections.
Ability to provide quality, error-free work in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to work independently with minimal on-site supervision.
Ability to handle multiple priorities in a high-volume environment.
Keyboard and data entry experience.
Nice-to-Have Experience:
Medical assistant or paramedic training.
Experience working in a Patient Service Center environment.
Customer service experience in retail or service environments.
Phlebotomy certification (required in California, Nevada, and Washington).

Pediatric and geriatric phlebotomy
Specimen labeling and processing accuracy

Patient Service Center workflow experience
