Required Education: High school diploma or equivalent
Required License/Certification: Active, unrestricted pharmacy technician license in the state of Minnesota
Preferred License/Certification: Certified Compounded Sterile Preparation Technician (CSPT)
Required Qualifications/Skills/Experience: Prior relevant work experience of 1 year; at least 1 year of experience as a pharmacy technician coordinating activities in an administrative support function; minimum 1 year of experience in a customer service position with high-volume call center experience, preferably in healthcare, social services, or a similar service position; sterile compounding experience; working knowledge of problem-solving and decision-making skills; advanced computer skills, including word processing and spreadsheet utilization; excellent written and verbal customer service skills

Overview: The Pharmacy Technician – Compounding supports pharmacists in the preparation of compounded medications while helping maintain the sterility, integrity, accuracy, and safety of final products. This role assists with measuring, weighing, and mixing ingredients and follows comprehensive labeling procedures for compounded medications, including creams, ointments, and capsules. The Pharmacy Technician documents measurements, calculations, procedures, batch records, deviations, and incidents associated with compounding activities. The position works as part of a pharmaceutical team using compounding equipment and technology and assists with appropriate cleaning protocols and routine equipment maintenance to maintain a safe and hygienic environment. The technician also evaluates final compounded products for appearance, consistency, contamination, and abnormalities. Ongoing professional development through seminars, workshops, and training is expected to maintain knowledge of pharmaceutical compounding techniques and technology advancements. The role also supports waste management within the compounding area by differentiating hazardous waste, non-hazardous waste, and recyclables.
