Pharmacy Technician

Job Description

The Pharmacy Technician is responsible for efficiently managing order entry and triage processes. This role involves handling incoming calls and directing them appropriately, as well as communicating with Long-Term Care (LTC) facilities, pharmacists, nurses, and physicians. The technician is expected to manage drug orders received via faxes and other forms, and address medication-related queries.

Responsibilities

  • Establish and maintain accurate and up-to-date patient profiles.
  • Receive prescriptions and refill requests, ensuring all information is complete and accurate.
  • Process prescriptions using third-party insurance billing.
  • Answer telephone calls and assist facilities and patients with inquiries, referring them to the pharmacist for detailed medication information when needed.
  • Triaging incoming phone calls, faxes, and electronic orders, and collaborating with team members to ensure accurate order processing.

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

  • Registered Pharmacy Technician with the state of MN (national certification does not suffice).
  • Minimum of 6 months of pharmacy experience, including knowledge of SIG codes.
  • Proficiency in data entry and customer service.

Work Environment

The role is set in an office environment where each technician has their own desk. It is a repetitive role, yet involves processing a variety of orders that require time and understanding for correct processing. The position operates Monday to Friday from either 12:30 PM to 9 PM or 1:30 PM to 10 PM, with no regular weekend work, though every fourth weekend may be required.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Saint Paul, MN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $25.00/hr.
