Pharmacy Technician, Regular Part-time (64 hours bi-weekly), Varied Shifts

NMC is currently recruiting a Pharmacy Technician, in the Pharmacy. The position is regular part-time (64 hours bi-weekly), hours vary between 7am-7pm (generally 8-hour shifts) including rotating weekends. Hiring Ranges:  Pharmacy Technician $18.44 - $29.86; Pharmacy Technician Trainee $17.82 - $28.85 + shift differentials

The posted hiring range represents the anticipated pay range for this position. Individual compensation is determined based on a variety of factors, including relevant experience and internal equity. Placement within the range will be based on the candidate's qualifications and alignment with the requirements of the role.

Pharmacy Technician

JOB SUMMARY:

• The Pharmacy Technician supports pharmacists in all phases of the medication delivery system; including ordering, stocking, purchasing, manufacturing, dispensing, delivery, inspection and charge functions.

PRE-REQUISITES:

• Education:  High school graduate or equivalent required.  Eligible for Vermont State Pharmacy Technician registration, national certification preferred.
• 
  Experience: Previous hospital or medical experience, particularly with medication preferred.

RELATIONSHIPS:

• Reports To: Pharmacy Manager

Performs duties under the supervision and control of a licensed Pharmacist

• • Medical staff, nursing staff and other hospital employees, patients, public, vendor representatives

SCOPE:

• Machinery or Equipment Used:
• • Pharmaceutical and office equipment including; compounding equipment, infection administration equipment, unit-dose equipment, labeling materials, personal computer, and other office equipment
• Physical Demands:
• • Manual dexterity and mobility, ability to stand/walk for protracted period
• Working Conditions: 
• • May be exposed to infections and contagious diseases. May be exposed to toxic chemicals. Subject to varying and unpredictable situations. Handles emergency or crisis situations. Subject to many interruptions and occasional pressure due to multiple calls, inquiries and priorities

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Incorporates appropriate skills in all interactions and functions related to pharmacy operations

1. • Ordering & inventory maintenance

1. • Prepares prescriptions for pharmacist review according to policies, procedures and equipment use guidelines

Communicates with patients team members and management in an accurate, timely manner

1. • Completes clinical documentation accurately and timely as required by policy, procedures and regulatory agencies

1. • Complete timely clinical documentation/order entry

Demonstrates the unit specific skills requisite for unit/patient population served

Performs medication reconciliation

Responsible for stocking Omnicell cabinets.
