The Pharmacy Technician supports daily pharmacy operations by preparing medications for dispensing under the direct supervision of a pharmacist and in accordance with state and federal regulations. This role plays a key part in medication preparation, inventory management, sterile and non‑sterile compounding, and maintaining an organized, compliant, and efficient pharmacy environment. The ideal candidate is detail‑oriented, reliable, and comfortable working in a fast‑paced long‑term care (LTC) pharmacy setting, with strong technical skills and a commitment to accuracy, safety, and teamwork.
Qualifications
Current state registration as a Pharmacy Technician in good standing
Ability to read, write, and speak the English language fluently
Essential Functions
Enter prescription and physician order data into the pharmacy's data processing system
Pull stock bottles and prepare medications for packaging and dispensing
Affix prescription and auxiliary labels to medication containers
Reconstitute medications as required
Package and label pre‑packaged medications
Assemble and audit emergency kits
Perform sterile and non‑sterile compounding in accordance with regulations and best practices
Procure and stock pharmaceuticals and ancillary supplies
Assist with inventory management and cycle counts
Support maintenance of pharmacy equipment, environmental controls, cleanliness, and organization
Utilize pharmacy operating systems, digital imaging software, automated dispensing systems, and Microsoft applications
Participate in scheduling, coordination, and preparation of medication deliveries
Assist with training newly hired technicians and student externs as assigned
Support auditing of patient records as needed
Participate in continuous quality improvement initiatives
Promote teamwork, communication, and a positive work environment
Ensure patient and resident safety at all times
Perform other duties as assigned
