Days/Hours: Monday - Friday, day shift - 5 days onsite opportunity

The full time onsite Prior Authorization Pharmacy Technician at the Cedars-Sinai Pacific Heart Institute will assist in supporting the Cedars-Sinai Medical Network pharmacy team in the daily operations of the Cedars-Sinai Pacific Heart Institute. The Pharmacy Technician primary role is to assist the pharmacists, physicians and other providers in processing of prescription orders, prior authorizations, distribution and inventory management of clinic-administered medications, and obtaining and compiling clinical information

What's this role all about?

  • Communicate pertinent information to pharmacists, prescribing physicians, other providers, and/or office staff.
  • Monitor and respond to e-mail and electronic medical record inbox/in-baskets messages and other communications in a timely manner throughout the work day.
  • Assist in obtaining prior authorizations from insurance plans and coordination with pharmacies.
  • Assist with data collection and entry when needed.
  • Facilitate communication with clinics/departments regarding medication requests and issues pertaining to medication stock and delivery.
  • Conduct chart or laboratory searches as necessary and transcribe relevant information into CS-Link.

Qualifications

Educational Requirements:

  • High School Diploma/GED

Licenses:

  • CA Pharmacy Tech License

Experience:

  • Prior Authorizations and UM: Experience at a healthplan or with processing medication prior authorizations
  • Health plan experience is preferred.

Physical Demands:

  • Lifting, Standing, walking, sitting, carrying, pushing, pulling, climbing, stooping, balancing, kneeling, crouching, handling, grasping, hearing, talking. The physical ability and perceptive acuity to satisfactorily perform all direct and indirect patient care functions. Must be able to perform assigned duties in a demanding work environment.
