    SUMMARY

    Prepares prescriptions and provides other health-care products under the direct supervision of the Pharmacist in Charge.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Prepares prescriptions for dispensing by the pharmacist and fills stock replacements
    • Makes requisitions for drugs and supplies with professional guidance from the pharmacist
    • Orders, receives, and maintains inventory of drugs and chemicals, and ensures their security
    • Helps maintain an orderly, clean environment, including cleanliness of pharmacy stock and supplies
    • Enters data in computer system; records all prescriptions, purchase orders, stock orders, requisitions, and disbursements
    • Under direction of pharmacist, removes unneeded or outdated drugs from stock and prepares for return or disposal
    • Performs general clerical duties for the department
    • Maintains core competencies in relation to working with co-occurring disorders through continuing education and implementing skills into all aspects of treatment
    • Attends staff meetings, workshops, and seminars to learn agency policy, rules, regulations, and procedures; participates in on-going in-service training as well as external training
    • Supports and assists with the facilitation of Care Plans for consumers within the Red Rock Health Team
    • Performs other duties as required

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • High School Diploma or equivalent
    • Successful completion of a pharmacy technician training course, or a minimum of 1 year of on-the-job training
    • National certification preferred, but not required
    • State licensing, as required
    • Must complete all in-service and external training requirements
    • Commitment to the mission of Red Rock BHS
    • Two years of relevant experience preferred

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

    • Must have the ability to stand or sit for long periods of time
    • Must have the ability to lift, push, or pull a minimum of 25 pounds
    • Ability to travel approximately 10% of the time
    • Ability to use telephone, PC, fax machine, copy machine, and printer
