Responsibilities:
  • The Pharmacy Technician IV professional responsibility within their scope of practice will be the following:
    • Use written and oral communication skills daily to communicate with hospital staff.
    • Utilizes a computer to access the Hospital Information System.
    • Maintain and operate required pharmacy equipment. Report Broken or malfunctioning equipment. Maintain current and adequate medication and supplies around the hospital as needed.
    • Utilizes proper body mechanics by lifting heavy equipment and medical supplies of 50lbs or more. Restocks all work areas as necessary.
    • Abide by and enforce all compliance requirements and policies and performs these responsibilities in an ethical manner consistent with the organization's values.
    • Adheres to organization's policies including confidentiality.(HIPPA)
    • Adheres to department and organization's policies on dress code.
    • Utilizes aseptic technique to compound sterile medications with the ability to calculate and measure doses.
    • Consistency in punctuality, attendance and performance.
    • Maintains license and PTCB/NHA Certifications.
    • Maintain a professional and cooperative attitude.
  • As Technician Trainer:
    • Works with technician supervisor to create a training plan for new hires
    • Assists new hires with learning clean room techniques, policies and procedures for sterile compounding
    • Assists new hires with learning job duties and responsibilites including hospital policy
    • Works with technician supervisor to assess new hire progress and create an action plan to ensure all employees are trained in a consistent manner.
    • Assist with other pharmacy duties as assigned.
  • Completes all mandatory department, educational and hospital requirements
  • Adheres to current Infection Control and Safety Standards
  • Regular and prompt attendance
  • Ability to work schedule as defined and overtime as required
  • Related duties as assigned
Additional Information:

Employees must be in a regular position, working 20 hours or more per week (.50 FTE or greater) to qualify for benefits.

Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent Required
  • 2 years of experience Preferred
  • LPT - Licensed Pharmacy Tech - current registry with the Alabama State Board of Pharmacy as a Pharmacy Technician Required and
  • Certified as a Pharmacy Technician with the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board. Required
  • IV trained within 180 Days Required
  • Comparable combination of education and experience may substitute for the above requirements.
