    Description

    Pharmacy technicians assist pharmacists in preparing and distributing drugs, maintaining the drug inventory and maintenance of records. Pharmacy technicians work only under the supervision of a registered pharmacist. They do not perform duties that can legally be performed only by a registered pharmacist.

    Essential Functions

    • Accurately prepares & distributes all doses of medication (subject to verification of their complete and accurate preparation by a pharmacist prior to distribution), including parenteral doses (i.e., IV admixtures, chemotherapy, parenteral nutrition, etc)

    • Expediently delivers medications and related products & supplies to defined patient care areas/ancillary areas according to the established schedules and assures their appropriate storage (e.g., refrigerator, etc)

    • Actively assists in maintaining drug inventories both within the Department and at defined patient care areas (including code cart restocking, restocking of automated dispensing cabinets, checking for outdated inventory, packaging/repackaging & extemporaneous compounding, etc)

    • Accurately maintains required records, logs & other documents (e.g., medication charges/credits, delivery & re-stock records

    Education

    • High School Diploma or GED

    License/Registration

    • Registered Pharmacy Technician issued by Florida

    Certification

    • CPhT- Pharmacy Technician Certification

    Work Experience and Additional Information

    • Two years of experience in a hospital or health system required

    • One year prior pharmacy technician experience required
