Pharmacy Tech I - Filling / Picking / Packing Tech

Responsibilities: Selects, picks, packages and labels medications and ancillary supplies per prescriptions, under the direct supervision of a Pharmacist in accordance with the Client specialty guidelines and pharmacy laws. Minimum (1) year experience required in a customer service position with high volume call center experience; preferably in healthcare, social services, or a similar service position.

Our client, a Retail Pharmacy company, is looking for a Pharmacy Tech I - Filling/Picking/Packing Tech for their Tampa, FL location.
 
Responsibilities:

• Selects, picks, packages and labels medications and ancillary supplies per prescriptions, under the direct supervision of a Pharmacist in accordance with the Client specialty guidelines and pharmacy laws.
• Accurate counting of medications utilizing a manual process as well as any automated counting devices.
• Exercise proper hands sanitization and hazardous medication handling practices.
• Performs functions &/or responsibilities of an Operations Assistant as needed.
• Responsible for preparing and/or restocking the filling station with medications and/or supplies as needed.
• Responsible for cleaning for all pill counting devices/equipment and general working areas.
• This position takes in-coming calls from members, providers, etc providing professional phone assistance to all callers through the criteria based prior authorization process.
• Maintains complete, timely and accurate documentation of all approvals and denials, and transfers all clinical questions and judgment calls to the pharmacist.

 
Requirements:

• Six months of work experience as a pharmacy technician.
• Prefer three months of work experience in a pick/pack/ship environment.
• Prefer three months of work computer experience.
• Able to utilize computer applications to enter data accurately and in line with production standards.
• Knows drug names and basic pharmacology knowledge. Understands medical terminology utilized in a Pharmacy.
• Able to collaborate with others to fill and ship accurate and timely orders.
• Able to perform Ops Assistant responsibilities.
• Must be able to recognize limitations on decision-making scope and be able to escalate issues falling outside of that scope.
• Pharmacy Technician registration required as prescribed by law or by Client policy.
• Must have understanding of basic Pharmacy law.
• Verifyable High School Diploma Or Ged Required   
• At least 1 year experience as a pharmacy technician coordinating activities in an administrative support function.
• National pharmacy technician certification.
• Eligible for state registration, certification or licensure per state regulations.
• Advanced computer skills including word processing and spreadsheet utilization.
• Excellent customer service skills (written and verbal) a must.
• Minimum (1) year experience required in a customer service position with high volume call center experience; preferably in healthcare, social services, or a similar service position.
