Pay Local: $70 – $80/hr
Pay Travel: $3000 - $3400 Gross weekly


Job Summary
The Pharmacy Operations Manager works under the supervision of the Director of Pharmacy and is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the hospital pharmacy. This role manages clinical, financial, administrative, technology, staffing, compliance, and medication distribution operations while ensuring high-quality pharmaceutical care.
The Pharmacy Operations Manager will also serve as a liaison between the Pharmacy, physicians, hospital leadership, and other departments and will perform the essential duties of the Director of Pharmacy when needed.
Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee daily pharmacy operations, workflow, staffing, and service delivery.
  • Partner with the Director of Pharmacy and management team on departmental goals, budgets, and strategic planning.
  • Recruit, interview, train, supervise, and evaluate pharmacy staff.
  • Coordinate staffing schedules and monitor workload and productivity.
  • Maintain compliance with California and federal pharmacy regulations, HIPAA, USP <797>, and Joint Commission standards.
  • Manage medication inventory, including controlled substances and required documentation.
  • Oversee medication distribution systems and ensure timely pharmacy services.
  • Supervise pharmacy billing activities, patient charges, financial reporting, and charge-master accuracy.
  • Review purchasing contracts, formularies, drug expenditures, vendors, and pharmacy-related expenses.
  • Manage and support pharmacy technology, including EHRs, automated dispensing systems, barcoding, pneumatic tube systems, and pharmacy automation.
  • Oversee pharmacy projects, technology enhancements, and operational improvement initiatives.
  • Support quality improvement programs and compliance initiatives.
  • Participate in ASHP-related standards and pharmacy user groups.
  • Maintain professional competency and support staff development.
  • Perform staff pharmacist responsibilities as needed.
  • Assume essential Director of Pharmacy duties during the Director's absence.
Required Qualifications
  • PharmD from an ACPE-accredited institution.
  • Active California Pharmacist License required.
  • Minimum 5 years of hospital pharmacy experience OR completion of a PGY1 residency.
  • Experience managing pharmacy teams and operations.
  • Experience with pharmacy delivery and documentation systems preferred.
  • Strong project management and leadership experience.
  • Experience with pharmacy information systems such as Epic or Meditech preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
