Job Description

The Pharmacy Operations Director oversees all operational aspects of a high-volume clinic pharmacy, ensuring optimal performance of people, processes, and systems. This role maintains compliance with state and federal regulations, upholds ACHC specialty accreditation, and aligns pharmacy operations with the organization's mission to improve healthcare access and outcomes in the community. The director manages a team of staff pharmacists and pharmacy technicians, reports to the Chief Pharmacy Officer, and serves as the public face of the pharmacy at local events while driving strong business performance and operational excellence.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and own the outcomes of all operational aspects of the pharmacy, ensuring efficient, safe, and compliant daily operations.
• Lead, supervise, and develop a team of staff pharmacists and pharmacy technicians, including performance management, coaching, and professional development.
• Ensure full compliance with state and federal pharmacy regulations and standards at all times.
• Maintain and uphold ACHC specialty accreditation, including preparation, documentation, and ongoing adherence to accreditation requirements.
• Align pharmacy operations with the organization's mission to improve healthcare access and outcomes in the community.
• Manage pharmacy budgets, including interpreting and utilizing profit and loss (P&L) statements and calculating EBITDA to drive financial performance.
• Monitor and improve pharmacy performance metrics, identifying opportunities for operational efficiency and process improvement.
• Develop and implement operational policies, procedures, and workflows to optimize people, processes, and systems within the pharmacy.
• Oversee specialty and retail pharmacy activities, including handling and management of specialty medications.
• Lead the development of pharmacy staff, ensuring strong clinical, operational, and customer service capabilities.
• Serve as the public face of the pharmacy at local events, representing the organization and building relationships within the community.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including the Chief Pharmacy Officer, to support strategic initiatives and business growth.
• Manage inventory and support 340B pharmacy inventory management where applicable.
• Utilize pharmacy software systems, including QS1, and support billing and operational workflows.
• Visit local pharmacies on an as-needed basis to support operations, relationships, and performance improvement.
• Demonstrate strong cultural competency in all interactions with patients, staff, and community partners.
• Maintain a strong commercial and entrepreneurial mindset, identifying and executing opportunities to enhance revenue, efficiency, and patient service.

Essential Skills

• Active pharmacist license in the state of Florida.
• PharmD degree.
• BS/BA degree, preferably in Business, Healthcare Administration, Operations Management, Supply Chain, or Logistics.
• Minimum of 5 years' experience at Director level or above, OR 10 years' experience at Manager level managing 3 or more employees.
• At least 10 years of pharmacy experience, including specialty pharmacy experience.
• At least 10 years of leadership and/or operations experience within a pharmacy setting.
• Minimum of 2 years' specialty or retail pharmacy experience, including experience with specialty medications.
• Proven experience developing and mentoring pharmacy staff.
• Experience managing a budget, including comprehension and use of profit and loss (P&L) statements.
• Ability to manage profit and loss tables, calculate EBITDA, and drive pharmacy performance improvement.
• Strong business and entrepreneurial skills with a commercial mentality.
• Strong cultural competency and ability to work effectively with diverse patient and staff populations.
• Comfort and willingness to visit local pharmacies on an as-needed basis.
• Experience with pharmacy operations in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience with pharmacy ACHC or URAC accreditation processes.
• Preferred prior experience with pharmacy ACHC accreditation.
• 340B pharmacy inventory management experience.
• Prior utilization of QS1 software, with willingness to learn QS1 Instafill billing.
• Preferred prior utilization of QS1 software.
• Experience with additional pharmacy software systems.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to serve as the face of the pharmacy at local events.
• Ability to align operational decisions with organizational mission and community-focused goals.
• Strong analytical skills to interpret financial and operational data and implement improvements.
• Commitment to continuous improvement and high-quality patient care.

Work Environment

This role is 100% onsite in a high-volume, fast-paced clinic pharmacy. The environment involves direct oversight of pharmacists and pharmacy technicians, frequent interaction with patients and clinical staff, and hands-on engagement with pharmacy systems and inventory management, including specialty medications and 340B inventory where applicable. The position follows a primarily Monday through Friday schedule, with occasional Saturday shifts from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. The pharmacy uses QS1 software and related billing tools, with training available for QS1 Instafill. Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $160000.00 - $190000.00/yr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
