Work Setting: Onsite
The Pharmacist in Charge will be responsible for preparing and dispensing appropriate pharmaceuticals to patients, leading a team of Pharmacy Technicians, and managing the overall day-to-day operations of the pharmacy. The position requires strong retail pharmacy management experience, leadership skills, regulatory compliance knowledge, and the ability to oversee pharmacy workflows and inventory.

Key Responsibilities

• Review and execute provider prescriptions, ensuring appropriateness and legality.
• Organize pharmacy operations and products for efficient identification and dispensing.
• Maintain control of medication inventory, including stocking, labeling, and monitoring medications to prevent expiration or deterioration.
• Listen to customers, understand their needs, and provide appropriate information and guidance.
• Prepare medications using correct dosages and appropriate materials for individual patients.
• Maintain accurate patient profiles and records of medication dispensing activities.
• Stay current with HIPAA and Fraud, Waste, and Abuse requirements.
• Comply with all applicable Federal, State, and Local laws, regulations, and procedures.
• Ensure the pharmacy and its employees remain compliant with applicable regulatory requirements.
• Ensure pharmacy employees understand and follow facility policies.
• Direct the daily work of Pharmacy Technicians.
• Provide input for technician performance evaluations and communicate behavioral or performance concerns to Senior Management.
• Manage Pharmacy Technician schedules.
• Communicate requests for leave of absence or medical accommodations to Senior Management.
• Perform other duties as necessary.

Required Qualifications

• PharmD degree.
• Current, active Illinois Pharmacist License.
• Minimum 5 years of retail pharmacy manager experience.
• Previous retail pharmacy management experience.
• Experience leading and managing Pharmacy Technicians.
• Experience using a Pharmacy Patient Management System.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Fluent in English.
• Strong leadership, communication, and management skills.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand for prolonged periods.
• Ability to use hands to handle, control, or feel objects, tools, or controls.
• Ability to perform fine motor skills required for pharmacy duties.
