Job Summary and Qualifications

Works closely with Physicians and Radiologists to ensure the delivery of the diagnosis for the patients. Must have ability to work in demanding situations with challenging management of scheduled patients. Expected to become proficient on multiple camera types and provide service in multiple areas. The Nuclear Medicine Technologist is expected to have a high level of knowledge of Radiation Safety, human physiology, and some understanding of pathology. Proficiency in operation of nuclear medicine cameras and proficient in PET CT.

  • Serves as a liaison between departments fostering teamwork
  • Conveys a friendly and helpful effect when communicating by telephone
  • Acknowledges patients and family, introduces self to patient, explains procedures, answers patient questions, and interacts with patients and family professionally. (AIDET)
  • Understands and manages interactions with difficult customers, always maintaining composure and demeanor.
  • Interacts with all customer groups including but not limited to Physicians, physician office staff, nurses, peers, and team members positively, and professionally.
  • Provides a sense of security to patients during procedures by effectively communicating, responding to patient needs, etc. directly or through intuition.
  • Demonstrates a gentle touch with patients in interactions and performance of procedures
  • All conversations with patients and family members are professional and appropriate as a representative of Imaging services and North Cypress Medical Center in all actions.
  • Sensitive to needs and psychology of cancer patients, it works closely with radiation therapy department to meet the needs of this patient population.

What qualifications you will need:
  • Minimum Education: Successful completion of formal two year training in accredited school of Nuclear Medicine approved by the Joint Review Committee for Education in the Radiological Sciences of the American Medical Association.

    Minimum Experience: 1 year hospital based experience (clinical training applies)

    Required Certification: TDH, BLS

    Required Licensure: ARRT or NMCTB
