Job Summary
To be a
constant companion to monitor resident assigned to you and when they leave
their room be in direct line of sight.
Qualifications:
- Must be at
least 16 years old, have reliable transportation and schedule flexibility to
work evenings and weekends if needed.
Duties and
Responsibilities:
- Always monitor the whereabouts of assigned
resident during your shift.
- When resident exits their room, you
are to go with them to their desired destination (i.e. Walk about facility, attend activities,
dining room for meals, etc.)
- If resident tries to touch another resident,
you are to intervene immediately by redirecting them or the other resident away
from the situation.
- If resident is in their room, you are
to be in the chair directly across the hall, having direct supervision of the
resident.
- If they want to close the door to
their room, you are to open it and check on the resident every 15 minutes.
- You will be relieved for
breaks/lunch.
- You can not leave until someone is
there to take your place.
- If you need a bathroom break, then
you can ask another employee that is in the hallway or at nurses’ station to
take your place while away.
- When family comes to visit, and they
want privacy they can shut the door to the room.
- If the family would like to walk
around the facility with the resident, you must be within eyesight of the
resident.
- At no time are you to provide direct
1-1 care unless you are certified as a nursing assistant or a nurse.
