Overview AttorneyThe Attorney is responsible for managing assigned personal injury matters from assignment through resolution. The Attorney serves as the lead legal professional on assigned cases and is responsible for legal strategy, case valuation, client counseling, settlement negotiations, litigation oversight, and achieving favorable client outcomes. The Attorney works closely with paralegals, litigation assistants, case managers, and firm leadership to maximize case value, provide exceptional client service, and achieve departmental and firm performance goals. The Attorney reports directly to the Managing Attorney.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesCase Management and Legal StrategyManage assigned personal injury caseload from assignment through resolution.Develop and execute case strategy.Evaluate liability, causation, damages, and insurance coverage issues.Identify opportunities to maximize case value.Review case status regularly and develop action plans.Ensure timely progression of assigned files.Client RepresentationMaintain attorney-client relationships.Counsel clients regarding legal rights and case strategy.Conduct client meetings and case reviews.Respond to client concerns and legal questions.Maintain consistent communication throughout representation.Settlement NegotiationEvaluate settlement opportunities.Negotiate with insurance carriers and defense counsel.Develop settlement strategies.Present settlement recommendations to clients.Maximize recoveries while managing litigation risk.Litigation ManagementDirect litigation strategy.Review and approve pleadings, motions, discovery responses, and litigation documents.Supervise litigation support staff assigned to files.Conduct legal research as necessary.Ensure compliance with court deadlines and procedural requirements.Hearings, Depositions, and MediationsConduct depositions.Attend hearings and court appearances.Represent clients at mediations.Prepare witnesses and clients.Advocate on behalf of clients throughout litigation.Trial Preparation and Trial SupportPrepare cases for trial.Review trial exhibits and witness materials.Develop trial strategy with firm leadership.Participate in trial proceedings as assigned.Team LeadershipProvide direction to case managers, legal assistants, paralegals and litigation assistants.Review work product prepared by support staff.Ensure assigned staff are working efficiently toward case objectives.Promote accountability and teamwork.Documentation and Case Management SystemsMaintain complete and accurate case documentation.Review CasePeer notes and file activity.Ensure significant legal decisions and case developments are documented.Maintain organized and attorney-ready files.Authority and Decision-MakingThe Attorney may:Make legal strategy decisions on assigned files.Negotiate settlements.Direct litigation activities.Supervise support staff assigned to cases.Recommend case expenditures.Recommend settlement authority.The Attorney may not:Approve compensation changes.Terminate employees.Modify firm policies.Make firm-wide strategic decisions reserved for leadership.QualificationsActive membership in the State Bar of Georgia.Minimum one year of personal injury experience.Strong negotiation and litigation skills.Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.Ability to independently manage a caseload.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.#J-18808-Ljbffr
