Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Personal Injury Trial Attorney to manage a litigation caseload from filing through verdict. The ideal candidate has a proven track record handling complex personal injury matters, taking and defending depositions, arguing substantive motions, attending mediations, and serving as first-chair or second-chair trial counsel. Must be bilingual and can speak both English and Spanish.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a litigation caseload from inception through settlement, trial, and post-trial proceedings.
- Serve as lead counsel on litigated personal injury matters.
- Develop and execute strategic litigation and trial plans.
- Conduct legal research and prepare pleadings, motions, memoranda, and other litigation-related documents.
- Take and defend depositions of parties, witnesses, experts, and corporate representatives.
- Prepare clients, fact witnesses, and expert witnesses for deposition, mediation, and trial.
- Draft and argue substantive motions, including motions for summary judgment and motions in limine.
- Attend and represent clients at hearings, mediations, arbitrations, and trials.
- Conduct jury selection, opening statements, direct and cross-examinations, and closing arguments.
- Work closely with medical experts, accident reconstructionists, economists, life care planners, and other expert witnesses.
- Evaluate settlement opportunities while preparing every case as if it will proceed to trial.
- Ensure compliance with Florida Bar rules, court procedures, and ethical standards.
Qualifications
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
- Active member in good standing with The Florida Bar.
- 5+ years of plaintiff personal injury litigation experience preferred.
- Demonstrated first-chair or second-chair jury trial experience.
- Significant experience handling depositions, mediations, and contested hearings.
- Strong knowledge of Florida civil litigation procedures, evidence rules, and personal injury law.
- Proven track record of obtaining favorable settlements, verdicts, and case resolutions.
- Exceptional written and oral advocacy, negotiation, and courtroom presentation skills.
- Ability to independently manage a high-volume litigation caseload.
- Excellent organizational and case management abilities.
Required Qualifications
- Fluency in Spanish is a plus.
- Experience managing high-value and complex litigation matters.
- Experience handling catastrophic injury, trucking accidents, wrongful death, traumatic brain injury, and spinal cord injury cases.
- Multiple jury trials to verdict.
