Personal Care Activity Assistant

We’re currently seeking dedicated Activity Assistants for St. Johns Herr Estate, the Luthercare community in Columbia, PA. We are hiring for a PT 1st & 2nd shift, 48 hours biweekly, including Saturday position.

WHAT YOU DO:

As an Activity Assistant at St. Johns Herr Estate, you’re an integral part of ensuring our Personal Care residents enjoy enriching and engaging activities and programs. You’ll do this by performing a variety of duties, including, but not limited to:

1. Getting to know each resident and his or her preferences to plan, organize, schedule, and implement one-on-one visits/activities and group activities to provide for a structured therapeutic environment
2. Communicating resident progress with staff members, as well as documenting and maintaining accurate records of resident progress, attendance, participation, and hydration, while adhering to organizational and governmental regulations
3. Assisting with basic care needs of residents, including, but not limited to, serving meals, transporting residents, and general housekeeping/organization of activity areas.

At St. John’s Herr Estate, located at 200 Luther Lane in Columbia, older adults enjoy a healthy, active retirement while living in our maintenance-free independent living cottages and apartments, with resort-style amenities and a full range of services. St. John’s Herr Estate also features on-site Personal Care for residents who need a little help and support to remain living as independently as possible. The community is part of Luthercare, which is a not-for-profit, faith-based, and mission-driven organization based in Lititz, Pa. St. John’s Herr Estate residents have access to Luthercare’s network of services through its full continuum of care within two communities in Lancaster County.

Qualifications/Requirements:

1. High school diploma or equivalent
2. Able to perform the functions required to push a wheelchair and transport residents.

Preferred Job-Related Experience/Abilities/Education:

1. Two (2) years of experience planning/organizing activity programs
