Consults with assigned staff to assist with complex or problem situations and provide technical expertise; trains and instructs employees regarding operational procedures and proper use of equipment; assists with revising procedure manuals as appropriate; and provides progress and activity reports to Building Official and Director, Code Compliance. Supervises the processing of permit application and associated fees; ensures and monitors compliance with applicable codes, laws, ordinances, policies and procedures; and ensures uniform application of the same. Provides technical advice and guidance to department staff, other County employee, outside agencies, and the general public; provides information and answers questions regarding permitting policies, procedures, codes and ordinances; responds to questions and routine complaints; research problems; and initiates problem resolution. Monitors and evaluates efficiency and effectiveness of permitting processes and operations; assesses and monitors workload, administrative support systems, and reporting relationships; identifies and recommends changes and modifications to improve operations to department management; and assists with implementing approved changes and modifications. Performs other related duties as required. Associate degree in accounting, business or related field is required; supplemented by five years of experience in processing construction permits; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job. Must possess and maintain a valid South Carolina Driver"s License. Must possess and maintain the following additional certifications, Permit Technician and Notary Public.
