Position Summary
We are seeking a reliable and flexible Permanent Substitute Teacher to provide consistent classroom coverage throughout the school year. The Permanent Substitute will support daily instructional needs by covering classrooms, following teacher lesson plans, and maintaining a positive and productive learning environment.
This position requires strong dependability, flexibility, and the ability to work effectively with students, teachers, and staff. The Permanent Substitute may be assigned to different classrooms based on staffing needs.
Responsibilities
- Provide classroom coverage in the absence of the regular classroom teacher.
- Follow provided lesson plans and instructional materials.
- Maintain a safe, respectful, and supportive classroom environment.
- Supervise and support students during classroom activities, transitions, lunch, recess, and other assigned duties.
- Implement classroom routines and maintain appropriate student behavior expectations.
- Communicate effectively with teachers, administrators, and staff.
- Adapt to different classroom settings and grade levels as needed.
- Support the continuation of student learning and daily classroom operations.
Qualifications
- Must possess a valid New Jersey Substitute Teacher Credential (Substitute Certificate).
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and follow classroom procedures.
- Dependable, punctual, and committed to consistent attendance.
- Ability to adapt to different classroom environments and student needs.
- Experience working with children in an educational setting preferred.
Required Documents & Clearances
- Valid New Jersey Substitute Teacher Credential (Substitute Certificate).
- Criminal History Background Check clearance.
- TB Test/Clearance (as required).
- Completion of all required onboarding documentation.
Position Expectations
- Permanent Substitutes are expected to report regularly throughout the school year.
- Assignments may vary based on classroom and staffing needs.
- Flexibility and consistent attendance are essential to providing uninterrupted support for students and staff.
