    Description:

    Brattleboro Memorial Hospital Medical Group is seeking a full-time Board Certified or Board Eligible MD/DO General Surgeon to join its collaborative surgical team in Brattleboro, Vermont, providing comprehensive inpatient, outpatient, emergency, and wound care services in a supportive community hospital setting.

    Job Description:

    The General Surgeon will:



    • Provide comprehensive surgical care across inpatient, outpatient, and emergency department settings
    • Perform common general surgical procedures including:
    1. Hernia repair
    2. Cholecystectomy
    3. Endoscopy
    4. Appendectomy
    5. Management of small bowel obstruction
    6. Colorectal surgery
    7. Skin and soft tissue surgical procedures

    • Deliver evaluation and management of acute and chronic wounds within the multidisciplinary Wound Clinic model
    • Provide expert diagnosis, treatment, and management of a wide range of surgical conditions
    • Exercise advanced operative skills and strong clinical judgment
    • Collaborate closely with:
    1. Anesthesiologists
    2. CRNAs
    3. Physician Assistants
    4. Perioperative and peri-anesthesia teams
    5. Emergency Department clinicians
    6. Hospitalists
    7. Wound Clinic team


    • Educate patients and families regarding:


    1. Surgical procedures
    2. Risks and benefits
    3. Post-operative care plans

    • Review diagnostic test results and address abnormalities
    • Offer surgical input for:
    1. Palliative care
    2. Pain management
    3. End-of-life decision support

    • Participate in departmental meetings
    • Engage in ongoing professional development and training activities
    • Maintain compliance with OSHA Category I standards (bloodborne pathogen precautions)
    • Not open to candidates who commute more than 1 hour

    Compensation and Benefits:
