Location: Austin, TX

Facility: Dell Children's Medical Center

Department/Specialty: Fetal Therapy

Schedule: Full Time | Monday-Friday | 8am-5pm

How you'll make an impact in this role:
  • Deliver direct patient care through behavioral health counseling for prenatal and postpartum patients within the fetal health unit and specialized delivery care environment.
  • Conduct patient assessments, crisis intervention, and counseling sessions focused on perinatal mental health, grief support, trauma, and emotional wellness during pregnancy and postpartum recovery.
  • Coordinate care with physicians, NICU social workers, nurses, and interdisciplinary team members to support safe maternal outcomes and continuity of patient care.
  • Provide individual and family counseling while maintaining accurate clinical documentation within Electronic Health Records (EHR/EMR) and behavioral health compliance standards.
  • Support patients and families navigating high-risk pregnancies, fetal diagnoses, loss, and complex care planning through compassionate counseling and community resource coordination.
  • Collaborate across maternal health, behavioral health, and neonatal care teams to strengthen care coordination, patient advocacy, and quality improvement initiatives.
What minimum qualifications you'll need:

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

  • One or more of the following required:
    • Counselor credentialed from the Texas State Board of Examiners of Professional Counselors obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
    • Social Worker credentialed from the Texas State Board of Social Worker Examiners obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
  • BLS Provider preferred. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
  • Clinical Counselor preferred.

Education:

  • High School diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative experience OR Associate's
    degree/Technical degree OR 4 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.
What additional requirements you'll need:
  • Active CLSW/LCSW required prior to hire.
