Role: PeopleSoft Business Systems Analyst (Payroll)
    Location: Remote (PST time zone)
    Duration: 6+ months

Summary: We are looking for an experienced Business Systems Analyst with strong PeopleSoft HCM Payroll knowledge and recent hands-on experience with a PeopleSoft 9.2 upgrade. The ideal candidate is a well rounded BSA, equally comfortable in the fundamentals of business analysis (requirements, functional documentation and solution design) and in the day-to-day work of a payroll system (production support, SQL based analysis, tax updates and testing). This person will work closely with payroll and HR stakeholders and technical teams to analyze requirements, support the upgrade effort, resolve production issues, and ensure payroll processes run accurately after the move to 9.2.

    Key Responsibilities:
    • Business analysis: Partner with business users and technical teams to elicit, document, validate and prioritize requirements for PeopleSoft payroll and related processes, and maintain traceability from requirement to design, test and delivery.
    • Functional documentation: Produce business requirement documents, functional specifications, process flows, configuration documents, test scripts and user guides that are clear, complete and easy for both business and technical teams to follow.
    • Solution design: Translate business needs into functional designs for configuration, customization, reports and interfaces; evaluate options, work with developers on technical design, and confirm the solution meets the requirement.
    • PeopleSoft Payroll: Apply working knowledge of PeopleSoft Payroll concepts such as earnings, deductions, taxes, gross to net, retro and off cycle processing, payroll calendars, pay groups, garnishments, year end processing and payroll reporting.
    • Upgrade support: Support the PeopleSoft 9.2 upgrade, including fit gap analysis, keep or drop decisions, configuration review, retrofit and impact assessment, and functional validation of delivered and customized objects.
    • Tax updates: Review, apply and validate vendor tax updates and patches, and confirm payroll results through parallel and test payroll runs.
    • Production support: Provide ongoing functional support for the live payroll environment, including triaging incidents, performing root cause analysis, working with Oracle Support and technical teams on fixes, and recommending process improvements.
    • SQL and data analysis: Use SQL and PeopleSoft Query to analyze payroll data, validate results, investigate discrepancies and support reporting and audit requests.
    • Testing: Plan, design and execute test scenarios including unit, system integration, regression and user acceptance testing; run test payrolls, verify paychecks, and track defects through to resolution.
    • Communication: Prepare status updates and training material for stakeholders and communicate clearly with business and technical audiences.

    Required Skills and Qualifications:
    • Strong foundation in Business Systems Analyst fundamentals, including requirements gathering, functional documentation and solution design.
    • Solid hands-on experience with PeopleSoft HCM Payroll (North American payroll preferred), with a clear understanding of payroll concepts and the end-to-end payroll cycle.
    • Recent PeopleSoft 9.2 upgrade experience.
    • Proven experience supporting a production PeopleSoft payroll environment.
    • Working SQL skills for data analysis and validation (SQL queries and PS Query).
    • Proven experience in test planning and execution, including SIT, UAT and test payroll validation.
    • Experience applying and validating payroll tax updates.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    • Ability to collaborate effectively with both business and technical teams.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.

    Preferred Qualifications:
    • Experience with related PeopleSoft HCM modules such as Benefits, Absence Management and Time and Labor, and their integration with payroll.
    • Familiarity with integrations, reports and data validation during upgrade projects.
    • Experience with PeopleTools upgrades and PeopleSoft Update Manager (PUM) images.
