People & Culture Coordinator II

Location: Washington, DC 20002 – First Street area
Pay Rate: $30.00–$35.29/hour
Schedule: Hybrid – 3 days onsite per week; schedule is flexible
Contract Duration: 6 months
Conversion: Potential to convert to direct hire
Overtime: Not typically required


Overview

The People & Culture Coordinator II supports the Global News People & Culture team by coordinating HR programs, employee lifecycle activities, organizational initiatives, reporting, and day-to-day operational support.


This position works closely with employees, managers, People & Culture partners, and Centers of Excellence to maintain accurate people data, support organizational changes, coordinate projects, and ensure consistent HR processes across a fast-paced global organization.


Responsibilities

People & Culture Programs & Project Coordination

  • Support the execution of People & Culture programs and organizational transformation initiatives across global news teams.
  • Coordinate projects involving restructures, role changes, workforce planning, and other organizational changes.
  • Maintain organizational charts for global news teams and ensure information remains accurate and current.
  • Manage the Global News SharePoint site and file structures.
  • Develop presentations, charts, analytics, and other materials for leadership and business needs.
  • Track People & Culture activities to maintain visibility and alignment across teams.


Employee Lifecycle & Operational Support

  • Support employee lifecycle processes, including recruiting, onboarding, offboarding, engagement, and documentation.
  • Coordinate onboarding and offboarding activities for talent populations across global news teams.
  • Maintain accurate HR documentation, trackers, and processes.
  • Provide onsite People & Culture coordination support for the Washington, DC office as needed.
  • Provide administrative support to the People & Culture team, including the Vice President of People & Culture.


Employee & Manager Support

  • Serve as a point of contact for employee and manager questions.
  • Help ensure inquiries are addressed accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Communicate and apply company policies consistently while considering regional differences.
  • Provide day-to-day operational support to People & Culture initiatives and processes.


Data, Reporting & Systems

  • Maintain and analyze reports, dashboards, and trackers used for workforce planning and decision-making.
  • Use Excel and Workday for reporting, data analysis, and process improvement.
  • Analyze spreadsheet data and prepare meaningful reports for stakeholders.


Collaboration & Cross-Functional Support

  • Partner with the People & Culture team to coordinate and distribute the monthly P&C newsletter.
  • Work with Centers of Excellence, including Recruiting, Learning & Development, HRIS, Compensation, and Benefits.
  • Collaborate with regional People & Culture stakeholders to provide consistent support across teams.


Required Qualifications

  • 2–3 years of Human Resources experience.
  • 2–3 years of project coordination or project management experience.
  • Proven ability to organize and prioritize multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • 2–3 years of experience using HR systems and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Experience with Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Workday, SharePoint, and OneDrive.
  • Familiarity with organizational chart tools such as Miro.
  • Ability to analyze Excel spreadsheets and report data.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and changing business needs.
  • Strong collaboration and relationship-building skills.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Awareness of international labor practices and employment regulations.
  • Advanced Excel skills, including formulas and pivot tables.
  • Working knowledge of compensation, benefits, and employee relations practices.
  • Experience supporting diverse or global employee populations.
  • College degree.
  • PHR certification.

Interview Process

  • First Round: 30-minute screening with the Director of People & Culture.
  • Second Round: 1-hour panel interview with 2–4 People & Culture team members.
  • Third Round: 30-minute interview with the Vice President of People & Culture.
  • Interview feedback is expected within approximately 48 hours following completion of the interview process.
