Bill’s Place is a supportive housing facility serving senior men who have experienced homelessness. The Peer Specialist will provide services directly to individuals in the program and work closely with Client Advocates. Hours will vary for program activities. This role allows for flexible work schedules, subject to campus needs. The Peer Specialist utilize their lived experiences and demonstrate an ability to use their personal narrative in the service of assisting others. The Peer Specialist assist in the utilization of appropriate community resources, engagement, and development of wellness and recovery skills and provides information, support, assistance, and advocacy. The Peer Specialist is uniquely poised to provide collaborative and person-centered support services from a peer perspective. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Develops effective working relationships with agencies, organizations, and community members to respond and advocate for men experiencing homelessness. Assists in a variety of support activities including peer support groups, peer recovery, and psycho-educational groups outcomes for client. Collaboratively works with peers in the development of a strength-based wellness and recovery plan to overcome barriers to good mental health. Develops effective working relationships with agencies, organizations, and community members to respond and advocate for men from a peer perspective. Communicates effectively, represents and promotes the consumer perspective within mental health, homelessness, reentry, and other relevant systems. Attends and participates in special events, conferences, and workshops and trainings within the community. Focuses on and is sensitive to client satisfaction with the services received and general satisfaction with services provided. Attends and participates in supervision and multidisciplinary meetings. Provides transportation in company vehicle throughout Palm Beach County. Documents all activities as required. Collaborates with the Advancement Department as it applies to gifts-in-kind and sharing client stories to aid the department with necessary information to share the impact of The Lord’s Place with our community. Performs additional duties as assigned by the Director of Senior Housing or client advocates according to business needs.
