The Peer Educator (PE) Program serves as the lead student involvement for the It's On CWRU initiatives housed within the Flora Stone Mather Center for Women; PE's focus is on the It's on CWRU violence prevention initiative, engaging the campus in work around gender-based violence, healthy relationships, and more.
Peer Educators are responsible for activating the student population in efforts to reduce violence and educate the community around healthy relationships, consent, and being empowered bystanders.
Responsibilities
Provide educational outreach to the campus community
Create and present workshops to classes and campus groups
Table at informational fairs
Plan and support educational events
Develop and distribute informational documents, flyers, and marketing materials
Learn from experts in the field
Manage set-up and clean-up of events and workshops
Other minor duties as assigned
Preferred Skills
Ability to use Google Workspace and interest in learning new software as necessary
Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
The ability to work both independently and in a team-oriented environment
Must be self-motivated with excellent time, organizational, and project management skills
The ability to work under pressure in a very busy environment
Able to maintain confidentiality
Passion for educating about healthy relationships and related issues
Desire to learn about social justice issues
Compensation
$14.00 per hour
Federal Work Study preferred
Average 3-4 hours per week, with some times in the year being busier (such as awareness months in April and October) and others slower, with more focus on developmental activities
Applicants must be enrolled as a full-time degree-seeking undergraduate student at CWRU who is excited about violence prevention and engaging the campus in work around gender-based violence and healthy relationships (no direct experience required but must have a willingness to learn).
