Pediatric Provider, Per Diem

The Pediatric Provider will provide acute, problem-focused, and follow-up care to infants, children, and adolescents as part of a collaborative multidisciplinary team, working alongside physicians, nurse practitioners, nurses, medical assistants, behavioral health professionals, patient advocates, students, and other members of the care team. Coverage needs may include weekday/evening pediatric clinic sessions, coverage for provider vacations, leave, and unexpected absences, coverage during periods of increased patient volume, occasional Saturday morning sessions, and other coverage needs based on department operations.

This is an excellent opportunity for a provider who enjoys outpatient pediatrics and is looking for a flexible clinical role without a fixed full-time schedule.The Pediatric Provider will provide acute, problem-focused, and follow-up care to infants, children, and adolescents as part of a collaborative multidisciplinary team, working alongside physicians, nurse practitioners, nurses, medical assistants, behavioral health professionals, patient advocates, students, and other members of the care team.This position is designed to provide as-needed clinical coverage based on department needs, including coverage for provider absences, vacations, increased patient volume, and other staffing needs. Whether supplementing a current practice, maintaining a flexible clinical schedule, or contributing to a mission-driven community health environment, this position offers the opportunity to provide meaningful care to children and families while working on a schedule that can accommodate other professional commitments.Essential FunctionsEvaluate, diagnose, and treat acute and problem-focused pediatric conditions in infants, children, and adolescents.Provide follow-up care for patients with ongoing or recently evaluated medical concerns.Manage common pediatric illnesses and conditions within the provider's scope of practice.Develop appropriate treatment plans, prescribe medications, and provide follow-up recommendations.Identify patients requiring additional evaluation, specialty consultation, diagnostic testing, or higher levels of care and coordinate appropriate referrals.Provide clear, age-appropriate education and guidance to patients and families regarding diagnoses, treatment, medications, and follow-up.Deliver compassionate, patient-centered care to a diverse pediatric population.Work collaboratively with the pediatric team and other clinical disciplines to ensure safe, coordinated, and high-quality care.Ensure abnormal results are appropriately addressed, communicated, and incorporated into the patient's care plan.Work with the pediatric team to ensure timely follow-up of outstanding laboratory and imaging studies.Communicate clinically appropriate results and follow-up recommendations to patients and families.Respond appropriately to patient and family questions through telephone and other established communication systems.Support effective telephone triage and ensure patients are directed to the appropriate level and type of care.Provide clinical guidance to office and clinical staff regarding the urgency of pediatric concerns and appropriate follow-up.Escalate urgent or concerning clinical issues appropriately.Maintain accurate, timely, and complete clinical documentation in the Electronic Health Record (EHR).Follow organizational and departmental policies, procedures, clinical protocols, and patient safety standards.Support systems that promote accurate specimen handling, medical record management, and protection of patient information.Communicate effectively and respectfully with patients, families, colleagues, and members of the multidisciplinary care team.Participate in pediatric clinical, operational, and quality improvement projects as appropriate.Perform other duties as assigned by the Clinical Director of Pediatrics.CompetenciesDemonstrate strong pediatric clinical knowledge and sound independent judgment within credentials and scope of practice.Maintain current clinical knowledge and professional competencies.Effectively prioritize clinical responsibilities and manage patient care within established timeframes.Demonstrate reliability, adaptability, and flexibility in responding to changing coverage needs.Take initiative to identify opportunities to improve clinical services and care delivery.Use organizational resources, staff time, and clinical supplies responsibly and efficiently.Foster a positive, collaborative, and professional work environment.Demonstrate sound clinical judgment and professionalism, including during high-volume or stressful situations.Maintain strict confidentiality regarding patients, families, visitors, and coworkers.Work EnvironmentPer diem, as-needed position with no guaranteed minimum number of hours. Coverage needs may include weekday/evening pediatric clinic sessions, coverage for provider vacations, leave, and unexpected absences, coverage during periods of increased patient volume, occasional Saturday morning sessions, and other coverage needs based on department operations. Flexibility and the ability to provide advance notice of availability are highly valued.Required QualificationsPhysiciansMD or DO degree from an accredited medical school.Completion of an accredited residency in Pediatrics or Family Medicine.Board certified or board eligible in Pediatrics or Family Medicine.Current and unrestricted state medical license.Current DEA registration, if prescribing medications.Current BLS certification.Pediatric outpatient/primary care experience strongly preferred.Nurse PractitionersMaster's or doctoral degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program.Current and unrestricted NP license and certification appropriate to pediatric practice.Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (PNP) or Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) certification preferred, as applicable to scope of practice.Current prescriptive authority, as applicable.Current DEA registration, if prescribing medications.Current BLS certification.Pediatric outpatient/primary care experience strongly preferred.EEO StatementThe Dimock Center values diversity and is committed to equal employment opportunity regardless of age, race, color, national origin, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, veteran status, or any other status protected by law.
