We are a busy pediatric ophthalmology practice seeking a dependable, motivated Ophthalmic Technician to join our Miami team. This position is primarily clinical/technician-focused, with occasional front-office support as needed in our small, team-oriented practice.


Primary Responsibilities


Work up pediatric ophthalmology patients efficiently and accurately


Obtain patient histories and document medications and relevant medical information


Perform visual acuity testing and age-appropriate pediatric vision assessments


Assist physicians during examinations and procedures


Perform ophthalmic diagnostic testing as trained


Prepare exam rooms and maintain appropriate clinical supplies


Accurately document information in the electronic medical record (EHR)


Assist with patient flow and help keep the physician schedule running efficiently


Communicate professionally and compassionately with children, parents, and caregivers


Follow established clinical protocols and practice procedures


Front Office Support


Because we are a small practice, all team members work together when needed. The technician may occasionally assist with:


Answering phones


Scheduling or rescheduling appointments


Patient check-in/check-out


Insurance verification


Other basic administrative duties during downtime or as coverage is needed


Qualifications


Previous ophthalmic technician or ophthalmology experience preferred


Pediatric ophthalmology experience is a plus, but not required


Bilingual English/Spanish strongly preferred


Comfortable working with children of all ages


Strong computer and EHR skills


Dependable, punctual, organized, and able to multitask


Able to work independently and take initiative


Professional, positive, and team-oriented


Willing to cross-train and assist in different areas of the practice when needed


Certification is not required. We are willing to train the right candidate who has a strong work ethic, learns quickly, and is interested in growing within ophthalmology.
