Job description:
ROP Consultants of Florida P.A. is a compassionate and family-oriented pediatric ophthalmology practice dedicated to helping children achieve their best vision in a caring, supportive environment. We’re seeking a bilingual (English–Spanish) Ophthalmic Technician who enjoys working with children and families. This role will also include cross-training in front office responsibilities, offering a well-rounded opportunity within our growing team.
Responsibilities: Clinical / Technician Duties:
  • Perform pediatric patient workups, including visual acuity testing, tonometry, color vision, stereopsis, refractions, and other age-appropriate diagnostic testing.
  • Assist the ophthalmologist during exams.
  • Accurately document patient findings and testing results in the EHR.
  • Prepare exam rooms and maintain ophthalmic instruments and equipment.
  • Provide clear, compassionate communication with children and their families.
Front Office Duties:
  • Greet and check in patients in both English and Spanish.
  • Schedule appointments, confirm visits, and manage daily patient flow.
  • Verify insurance eligibility, collect payments, and maintain accurate records.
  • Answer phone calls and assist families with questions about visits or follow-ups.
Qualifications:
  • Previous ophthalmic or optometric experience preferred; certification (COA/COT) a plus but not required.
  • Bilingual fluency in English and Spanish required.
  • Experience working with children or in a pediatric setting is strongly preferred.
  • Strong computer and EHR skills (experience with Mod Med preferred).
  • Excellent communication, patience, and teamwork skills.
  • Willingness to cross-train in both clinical and administrative roles.
