Blank Childrens Hospital Blank Childrens Hospital, a service of UnityPoint Health - Des Moines, is completely dedicated to meeting the unique health care needs of children. Blank Childrens is a 108-bed environment that embraces and encourages families to be a part of their childs healing and recovery. Everything from equipment to decor is designed specifically for children. Responsibilities Provides routine care and management of hospitalized patients in the newborn nursery level 1 and 2 at Methodist West and Trinity Fort Dodge, as well as inpatient pediatric coverage in both Des Moines and Trinity. This position is a 1.0 FTE requiring 1840 hours per year with a rotating schedule that includes a mix of day and night shifts. Specific locations depend on operational needs. Recognizes situations which require the immediate attention of a physician and initiates life-saving procedures when necessary. Documents findings in accurate, systematic form and maintains appropriate documentation in the EMR. Utilizes data to identify areas of improvement, monitor progress, and design/implement initiatives which can make a positive impact on the care of newborn or inpatient pediatric patients. Accepts responsibility to maintain and develop own skill and knowledge in the clinical area of expertise - pediatrics and newborn care. Provides specialty-specific patient-family teaching and counseling based on needs and in collaboration with the care team. Effectively communicates and interacts with patients, families, staff, and members of the community from diverse backgrounds. Qualifications PNP-AC One or more years of experience as a nurse in pediatrics preferred. Current Iowa License to practice as a Registered Nurse and as an ARN.
