Expected pay for this position is $31.49 - $37.05/hour. Actual pay will be determined by experience, skills and internal equity. This is a Salaried position.

Overview:

POSITION SUMMARY:

 

The Pediatric Counseling Specialist is responsible for providing counseling support services to patients and their families impacted by chronic or life-limiting conditions. Provides appropriate counseling intervention and support to patients and families to assist coping with the patientâ€s medical condition and treatment, using individualized treatment methods. Provides consultation to health-care providers regarding the impact of illness on mental health and psychosocial factors impacting illness. Effectively manages a patient caseload and demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide patient care that is appropriate to the ages of patients served.

Qualifications:

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

 

• Completion of a Master’s Degree in Counseling or closely related field.

 

• 1-2 years progressively more responsible related work experience in counseling or social work

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

 

• Current State of Illinois Licensure as an LCPC or closely related licensure

 

• LPC or LSW within 6-12 months of hire
