Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced PC Board Designer IV to join the Electrical Engineering Department in Poway, CA. In this role, you will work with minimal supervision alongside engineering teams to develop complex, high-reliability printed circuit board (PCB) layouts and schematics for advanced aerospace and defense systems.

Job Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop complex schematics, PC board layouts, assembly drawings, and structural details using PADS Power PCB and PADS Power Logic (PCAD 8.5 experience is a plus).
  • Work closely with electrical engineers from preliminary schematics, part lists, and sketches to create complete electrical drawings and design packages.
  • Ensure design compliance with ANSI Y4.15 drawing principles, IPC Standards, and internal configuration control procedures. Identify design errors and recommend corrective modifications.
  • Archive engineering data and interact directly with PCB fabrication and assembly vendors to support manufacturing.
  • Provide technical guidance and direction to less experienced designers and support staff.
  • Troubleshoot and test basic electronic assemblies, with the ability to perform basic component soldering when necessary.

Qualifications

Qualifications & Requirements
Required:

  • 4+ years of progressive experience designing printed circuit boards using CAD engineering software (5–7 years preferred).
  • Associate’s degree or technical certificate in Electronics Technology, CAD, or a related field (equivalent practical experience may be substituted in lieu of education).
  • Hands-on experience with PADS Power PCB and PADS Power Logic.
    In-depth knowledge of PCB design concepts, ANSI Y4.15 drawing principles, and IPC Standards.
  • Ability to read schematics, perform basic electronic assembly testing/troubleshooting, and perform basic hand soldering.
  • Strong interpersonal, documentation, and communication skills; capable of working independently and across cross-functional engineering teams.
  • Ability to work on-site in Poway, CA on a 9/80 schedule and work extended hours when program milestones require.

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience with PCAD 8.5.
  • Background in aerospace, defense, or high-reliability electronics manufacturing.
