    Job Title: Payroll Technician Pay Grade: SA 07 Min $33,358/Mid $41,692/Max $50,027

    Reports To: Payroll Manager FLSA Status: Non-exempt

    Dept./School: Financial Management Minimum Duty Days: 226 days Primary Purpose: Organize and perform the daily tasks as assigned for the Payroll and Benefits department and provide services to staff, vendors and employees.

    Minimum Requirements:

    • Associate's degree from an accredited institution
    • Two years of experience performing payroll functions

    Technical Knowledge:

    1. Ability to remain up-to-date on developments in field or expertise.
    2. Ability to participate in self improvement activities (seminars).
    3. Ability to understand the District's resources and capabilities (funding).

    Analytical Ability and Decision-Making:

    1. Ability to recognize problems and advise supervisors of important issues.

    General Payroll Duties:

    1. Review and key in payroll deductions for employees. Set up deduction screen and update screens as needed monthly or annually.
    2. Prepare and mail deduction checks on a monthly basis in a timely manner. Balance account against general ledger on a monthly basis.
    3. Be able to communicate with vendors on deduction accounts to correct or resolve any issues regarding employee's deductions as well as questions pertaining to billing.
    4. Be able to provide forms and documents for journal entries.
    5. Be able to communicate payment and deduction information with employees.
    6. Be attentive to window area to provide customer service for walk-ins.
    7. Assist employees with clearance forms for employees leaving the district.
    8. Assist new employees by explaining enrollment paperwork and deadlines for benefits.
    9. Maintain employee deduction files by filing authorizations forms in employee's folder.
    10. Assist with open enrollment by participating in the setup of the new enrollment year.
    11. Assist with open enrollment by participating in scheduled sessions at various locations.
    12. Assist with open enrollment by reviewing rollovers and enrollments for accuracy and resolving any discrepancies.
    13. Reconcile 1095 forms as required to meet submission deadline to IRS.
    14. Organize the sorting of 1095 forms for mail outs to meet IRS deadlines.
    15. Assist with RFP process when renew insurance contracts.
    16. Perform other duties assigned by Assistant Superintendent of Finance and Payroll Manager.
