The Payroll Specialist processes and reconciles payroll, maintains payroll records and systems, and ensures compliance with union agreements, applicable laws, internal controls, and confidentiality requirements. |
| MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS |
- Must possess a working knowledge of payroll fundamentals and principles at a level normally acquired through the completion of a two-year associate degree in accounting or business administration, or related fields or equivalent experience.
- Minimum two (2) years of payroll experience, including significant experience with construction, multistate, union, and complex payroll operations.

| PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS |
- Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) Certification.
- Experience supporting payroll operations within a publicly traded company environment.
- Fluency in Spanish.
- Experience processing payroll in California.

| JOB RESPONSIBILITIES |
- Oversee timecard submission, review, and verification for hourly, salaried, and union employees.
- Coordinate with field operations to accurately capture labor hours.
- Review payroll before release for accuracy, completeness, authorized changes, deductions, funding, and material exceptions.
- Reconcile pay, deductions, payroll data, and timecards with company policies and labor agreements.
- Maintain payroll systems, employee records, supporting documentation, and data privacy compliance.
- Answer employee questions about pay, timekeeping, benefits, and accruals, escalating issues as needed.
- Prepare control documents and reconcile third-party payments, including garnishments and levies.
- Partner with HR and the Payroll Manager to process new hires, terminations, pay changes, and position updates.
- Work with Accounting and unions to maintain payroll codes in compliance with laws and collective bargaining agreements.
- Recommend payroll process and system improvements.
- Collaborate with Finance and HR to support reporting and cost-control objectives.
- Execute payroll-related financial controls, including approvals, access, master-data changes, interfaces, reconciliations, segregation of duties, and record retention.
- Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.
